Environmental Interests Urgently Need Strong Governmental Representation — And It’s Possible (VIDEO)

Human greed may destroy our species.

In many cases, people will state that we’re hurting the environment, or the planet. That’s simply not true. We aren’t “hurting” it, because that isn’t something that can be defined or quantified — what we are doing is rapidly causing the planet to become unlivable for our species.

And we’re running out of time to make changes. Why? Because of money, of course! You know, that largely intangible and technically made-up resource. It’s not profitable to make the switch to sustainability, and it’s not like the changes are going to happen in one lifetime, so big oil & gas, along with allies, have engaged in a massive and largely successful misinformation campaign, attempting to continue to frame human-influenced climate change as a debate. It is not a debate. It’s happening

In the video below, Johan Rockstrom does an awesome job of detailing exactly what some of our potential solutions might be. Of course, the video was recorded in 2010, and as he says, this decade is the one we have to “flip the curves” during…well, we’re nearly four years into the decade, and there haven’t been any changes yet.

Here’s the video:

I’m 20 years old, and I have to ask: What are we leaving for my children and grandchildren?
